Welcome to our short review of the unnecessary spin-off (Young) Ip Man: Crisis Time.

What’s this movie about?

A 17 year old Ip Man must save the students of a Hong Kong English language high school after his master takes them hostage in an act of revenge.

And before you ask, Donnie Yen isn’t in this and this has nothing to do with other Ip Man movies.

Is it Worth Watching?

Not even someone who must watch every Ip Man movie should watch this.

The story is really stupid, and how it all plays out is just unbelievable. I assume the filmmakers wanted to emphasize the incompetence and corruption of the Hong Kong police force. Well that’s about the only bit they’ve gotten right.

The film is short at 75 minutes, but its at the 35-40 minute mark when Ip Man and his master cross paths, and honestly that’s when the movie should have ended, yet somehow the movie goes for an additional 30 minutes!

It doesn’t make much sense at all. The fight scenes are just lame with awful wirework, terrible and uninspired characters and some even more awful After Effects computer effects, which complete the ridiculous and unbelievably bad story that’s on offer here.

I give it a thumbs down.
