Monster Run - Trailer (Hong Kong/China, 2020)

The monster hunting film genre receives a big boost with this Chinese/HK co-production

This was a bit of a surprise, firstly because it looks like such an awesome monster hunting movie, but also because its the long awaited return to the silver screen of Shawn Yue since the terrible 2017 action movie The Brink with Max Zhang!

From the same director and production team as The Tales of Wukong, which also starred Shawn Yue, Monster Run tells the story of Jimo, a young girl who seems to have the ability to see things. Those things are monsters! One day while working at her supermarket job, a monster hunter (Shawn Yue) appears and she learns that she might not be as crazy as people think she is!

The biggest crime of this movie is that it won't get a cinematic release! This looks perfect for the big screen - but in this crazy time we're living in now, Chinese streaming service iQiYi have come to the rescue to make this an exclusive on their platform. Considering Columbia Pictures are also responsible for this, let's hope a proper English translated version appears on Netflix soon!

In the meantime, watch the above trailer on repeat and check out some of these posters
